Hello! My name is Monica Gonzalez and I am a second semester freshman at Henderson State University. I am 18 years old and am from Arkansas. I do my best to center my life around God! All things are possible through Christ, (Philippians 4:13). My favorite Bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12 (NAB), "Let no one have contempt on your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity." I was a Early Childhood Education major, but I decided that the education field was not for me. Thus, I decided to change my major to Psychology. I hope to graduate from Henderson State in 2017 with a bachelors degree in Psychology and then go to graduate school to pursue my masters degree.
I am a small town girl with hopes of making something of herself in life. I come from a very loving Catholic-Mexican family. They are the reason I do what I do.! Being a first generation high school graduate and a first generation college student, things can be very stressful at times! Having no one in my family that has attended college, I do not know what to expect or what to do when it comes to college. That being said, or typed, I have been able to handle the stresses of college along with the support of my peers and family. I hope to serve as an example for other future first generation students.
My first year of college has been worthwhile! Almost being done with my first year of college, I have had many adventures worthy to write about. I have made many lifelong friends and met some of the most amazing people in just a few short months. I hope to continue to have as many and more exciting experiences and I will begin to write about them in this blog. Go Reddies! God Bless!
